Steve Gens is the Managing Partner of Gens and Associates Inc., a global Life Science consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and roadmap design, regulatory information management, industry benchmarking and organizational performance. His early career was spent at Johnson and Johnson in a variety of commercial and R&D management positions and then moved into consulting to grow and lead several global healthcare consulting practices for First Consulting Group and Booz Allen Hamilton.

His organization is well known for their insightful industry benchmarks. Steve has 30 years of Life Science experience, a Master of Science in Organization Development and undergraduate degree in Business Computer Science.

Upgrading to Web – Why Upgrade, Frequently Asked Questions and Process to Optimize
In 2016, there have been over ten Online Business Applications customers who have either upgraded from the classic version of the system or started with the web version. As with any change in a medical information system there are numerous departments at play within medical affairs, all jockeying for their say in the system. The session looks at a SWOT style analysis of moving to IRMS Web and leverages feedback from companies that have already made the move.

Workshop: FOCUS on Reporting to Meet Evolving Customer Needs
Capturing metrics to serve medical information purposes is of great value. However, identifying trends and bringing those insights to the next level is of growing importance.
Providing value to other areas within medical affairs and to customer facing departments is also in demand and therefore getting information out of IRMS is crucial.

Track 2: Call Centers

Session 1:
Workshop: FOCUS on Reporting to meet Evolving Medical Information Needs within a Call Center Environment
The use of a call center is a very effective way of communicating directly with HCPs and other customers. Providing insight back to medical information is also a critical part of the relationship. The ability to identify important trends and data that can be used to improve communication is always needed.

Best Practices for Compliance and Working Within a Validated System
Medical information teams work hard to find a balance between creating a flexible system and working in a system that still meets compliance standards. How medical information teams overcome the demands of compliance while still getting the most out of their system can be a struggle. Groups are encouraged to exchange ideas and experiences.

Collaboration between adverse event and product complaint/quality teams is varied, complicated and necessary. Providing accurate and timely data within a proper system is critical.

  • Communication channels to ensure proper delivery

Session 2:
Workshop: Navigating the complex waters of capturing AE and PC information from within IRMS
Knowing how much data to capture and in what format is essential to maintaining proper information transfer. However, the format of the information that needs to be delivered and how that information should be delivered varies client by client.

Integration IRMS to Third Party Systems
There is a great demand for MedInfo information. Aside from traditional HCPs, data is wanted by various other contacts and departments and sometimes that means consolidation of information. This session will explore the ways that IRMS can be and has been integrated between other business systems.
